Hunter Porter Eldridge Architecture

With more than 25 years of experience in the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction, Hunter Porter Eldridge brings his extensive knowledge, thoughtful and contemporary design aesthetic, and unique ability to connect with clients’ needs to every project. He prioritizes value in terms of how a home, professional building, or space will expand upon a client’s specific vision and enhance their lifestyle for decades to come.

Hunter is passionate about integrating sustainable, environmentally sensitive practices into his work based on the unique opportunities presented by each client, site, and desired architectural solution. His understanding of and appreciation for the region, its history, and its distinct microclimates has evolved into a keen understanding of regionally appropriate design, construction techniques, and building materials.

Hunter’s decades-long career has produced a deep understanding of land use policy, site and building design, construction technology, and regulatory approvals along with established relationships with authorities having jurisdiction from all regions of the Monterey Peninsula as well as Monterey County Resource Management Agency. His professional relationships extend throughout California having worked on projects in the Bay Area and along the south coast. Most recently, Hunter has served on the Architectural Review Board for Pacific Grove, CA, so to assist in promoting “the orderly and harmonious development of the City and to protect the City’s architectural heritage.”

My role as an architect is not to impose my vision on a client. I listen first − always − and then act as an expert guide to bring the project to life in line with the site, the land, the style, and the client’s needs − whether its a business, an individual, a couple, or a family. It’s a partnership − from beginning to end.

Hunter is a California licensed architect, and holds registration with the American Institute of Architects. He earned an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo and a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
